Balou

Balou is a 16.1hh, 2015 Irish Sport Horse X Dutch Warmblood/Hanoverian gelding. Balou was born in Millarville, Alberta. He is sired by Bon Balou (Balou du Rouet) of Dreamscape Farms (Langely, BC). The Damsire is Loughehoe Guy. Balou was started on the family ranch, riding in wide open fields and going on trips to the mountains. He has been ridden by a confident young-adult amateaur.

Balou has competed successfully up to the 1.30m level and has plenty of scope for more. He has a round jump and flicky hind-end. Balou has done some hunters and derby events as a young horse. His adjustability, flexibility and steady rhythm would be assets in the hunter + equitation events. He has competed at Spruce Meadows, Rocky Mountain Show Jumping, as well as other venues in Alberta. Balou has competed at Thunderbird Show Park (BC). Balou made his debut at the Desert International Horse Park (Indio, CA) in 2024.

Balou is best suited to a junior or amateur rider looking to move up, who is confident and ready to win in the jumper ring. In 2024 Balou will be competing at Blue Sky & Edmonton Classic, RMSJ and Thunderbird Show Park.
